Grid League Photo Gallery – DC Brawlers Win the 2015 NPGL Championship

For the second year in a row I was assigned by the NPGL to shoot the DC Brawlers during the League’s year-end championship match, and for the second year in a row DC won. Coincidence? I don’t think so…

Grid League Photo Gallery – San Francisco Fire at the 2015 NPGL Playoffs

Back in September I had the opportunity to shoot the San Francisco Fire in their NPGL playoff match against the Phoenix Rise. I haven’t been able to go through the photos until just recently, so chalk this gallery up to the “better late than never” category and enjoy!

Photos from the Fox BMX “Made For This” Campaign with Scotty Cranmer

Sometimes the biggest and best photo shoots require you to wait a long time to share the images…like a really long time.

In September 2014 I went to New Jersey to shoot photos of Scotty Cranmer for Fox Racing for an ad campaign that wouldn’t launch until July of 2015.

Lucky for me I got the opportunity to go back and shoot some more with Scotty in May of 2015, and if you know Scotty at all it goes without saying that the photos I accumulated on those two trips were incredible. Scotty has always been one of my favorite riders to watch and favorite pros to shoot and work with, so I was beyond stoked to land this gig.

It was an absolute honor to shoot with Scotty and work with the talented Fox crew on this project!

Here are a handful of photos I shot for the campaign and some of the applications they were used in. At the bottom of this post you’ll also find the video that launched the Made For This campaign.

Introducing My New Podcast – The Expansion Project

I couldn’t be happier to share this with you guys! After many months of thinking, learning, planning, and executing, I have launched a podcast that is available on iTunes and Stitcher.

The Expansion Project is just that—a project based on the idea of expanding. Expanding what exactly? My mind, and myself as a person. It’s also a way for me to do something fun and creative while delivering free content to the world that will hopefully help to motivate and inspire other people.

I plan to release an new episode every week, so please subscribe and help spread the word by telling a friend or sharing a link on your social networks.

Eight episodes are already available. The first is a simple introduction, and the others are interviews and conversations with professional BMX riders, a coach, business owners and entrepreneurs, an artist, and an author. Download one or all of them and please let me know what you think! Any feedback or criticism is welcomed and appreciated!

You can learn more about The Expansion Project from the podcast’s dedicated Web site (theexpansionprojectpodcast.com), and of course please subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher, give five starts, and leave reviews!

For the fifth year in a row Flatland Fuel and Fat Tony are proud to present an exclusive Flatland BMX Calendar. The 12-month 2013 wall calendar features 15 original flatland photos of riders from six countries shot all around the world. Each month showcases a different rider in a unique location including Japan, Hungary, Spain, and the U.S. In addition to the twelve months, there is also a bonus poster of DK rider Dane Beardsley so you can keep flatland on your wall even after 2013 has passed. As the only calendar of its kind, the 2013 Flatland BMX Calendar presented by DK Bicycles is a must-have for flatland riders worldwide.

Recent Work: Brett Banasiewicz Dan’s Comp Photos

This is somewhat of a bitter sweet post… My friend Brett “Maddog” Banasiewicz has been one of the biggest names in BMX for the past few years. Being so gifted on a bike at such a young age (he just turned 18), Brett has always been one of the names people talk about when it comes to the future of the sport. I’ve hung out and traveled with Brett all over the world and had the pleasure checking out his hometown and personal skatepark over the years as well.

Brett is an awesome kid and an insanely talented bike rider, but sadly, at the end of August this year he crashed on a 720 over one of the jumps at a Vans contest in Virginia Beach and has been in the hospital fighting to recover ever since. You can read all about Brett’s injuries and his progress on the ESPN site and on Trish Bare Grounds’ Facebook page.

Shortly after the accident his bike shop sponsor Dan’s Comp asked me for some photos of him. One of the images ended up on a benefit shirt to help raise money for Brett and his family. You can buy those at danscomp.com, and all the proceeds go directly towards Brett’s mountain of medical bills that are still stacking up by the day.

The other photo landed on the cover of the newest Dan’s catalog—the most widely distributed publication in BMX. It’s an honor to have my photo on the cover of the catalog, and I’m stoked that it’s of Brett during this time when he’s in need.

Hit up the Dan’s site for your shirt, and while you’re there go ahead and order a catalog. And of course, keep sending Brett your well wishes, prayers, and positive vibes.

Stay strong and get well soon, buddy! I can’t wait to see you out there killing it again!

This was shot at the ASA BMX Triples contest in Orange County, California in August 2011.

This one was shot at the X Games in June 2012.
