St. Louis Cathedral Basilica Photos

While on a trip to St. Louis, Missouri, earlier this year I visited the famous Cathedral Basilica. Seeing old churches is always pretty cool, but this one was particularly interesting. As colorful and ornate as it is, there is no paint anywhere in the building…all of the 7,000 shades of color come from the mosaic artwork made up of around 41.5 million glass tiles.

I took a few of the typical photos you’d expect to see from an architectural masterpiece like this, but also shot some of the other patterns and textures that I found throughout in the building that are probably less photographed than the 83,000 square feet of tiny mosaic tiles.
